Hanaczek

You knew we weren't getting through my art faves without an academic drawing.
This one is by Hermann Hanaczek from 1873, and I find it simply sublime.  My friend
and life model David from London will hopefully fill us in on the posing elements.

    1. Thank you! It's not the first time that someone has put the artist's birth date on the image of a work.

  2. Rather tardy...but here goes.. An intriguing pose. I tried it, quite awkward, which is a pity as it looks great. The support would need to be very stable to cope with the opposing twisting movements of the arms. Doing that should relieve the uncomfortable tension and balance maintaining stance of the torso and back. Well done to this model. Clearly a master of the art. In return Hanaczek has certainly produced a sublime example of the academic male nude. Knowing the hard work that went into posing for this, I get a strong sense of admiration for him a brother model.

    1. Thanks, David! I thought this might have been a tough one, and you confirmed that.

    2. My pleasure. As usual the best approach is to try the pose. Now I'm back modelling I'll definitely try this one.
