Finding seated models with a staff was no easy task, but Al Urban's photo of Henry Karczewski
is a close match for the French academic drawing that follows.
Beautiful body, perfectly posed and lit. That hairstyle seems 1920-ish. And the man's bush is noteworthy, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteYes, I should have tagged the bush. The hair style was probably out of date when this was made around the mid-30s.
DeleteWow, that's one centre parting. Given Urban's period of activity, I would hazard that this is a very early portrait.
