Roy

George Platt Lynes was known to have made trips to California to photograph celebrities.  (That's actually how he made his living, mostly in New York.  He neither sold nor exhibited his male nudes during his lifetime.)  This photo of Roy Richter was made during a 1947 trip to LA.

  1. Definitely a "different" pose, IMHO. Did GPL photograph only male celebs? Did any pose naked, do you know?

    1. He photographed Yul Brynner naked when he was a young, aspiring actor in New York.

    2. Peter is correct about Mr. Brynner. Lynes photographed a number of female celebrities and did it quite well. (They were always fashionably dressed.) One or two of the gay male celebrities he photographed posed with semi-nude male models, but I'm not aware of any who actually posed nude themselves.
