Fig Leaf Day

I know fig leaf photos always leave us wishing for more, but they can be fun, so here
we go with ten.  First up is Bohemian strong man and wrestler K. Pospeschil.

  1. Always fascinating to see. Is the fig leaf an addition at the photo graphic printing stage, which leads to the "is there a nude version?" or fastened on. In which case, how? Great stuff.

    1. It seems to have been some of both. I have a few nude versions of photos were fig leaves were obviously added later. Others were there for the original photo session. And some are hard to tell.

    2. Fun guessing. Then, if they are, the method of attachment. The male fig leaf is a lost art. At the height of photographic use, could one buy one?

    3. Looks like I'll have to make my own then...

    4. You will no doubt do better than some I've seen, lol.

  2. As to the method of attachment, before the introduction of adhesive tapes and routine circumcision my guess would be the safety pin. Invented in 1849 it may account for the stern visage presented by many models of this era.

  3. And why is ONLY the fig thus favored? Why not a range of leaves, given the variety that exists among the subjects to be served? Surely the oak would be more appropriate and more comfortable for some (and there's a wide range of options even within the subset, from the mighty white oak down to the humble pin oak). The maple for the broader bush. Holly for the masochist. Willow for the show off. No end to nature's bounty.

    1. After they ate the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves.

  4. Yes, but their decisions, made in a moment of stress, obviously, shouldn't limit the rest of us. Think big. Think broad.
