Norm Man


I'm ending the anatomical series with Normman, aka Norm Man, a 1943 sculptural portrayal of what the average Caucasian male would be.  Based on measurements and photos of about 8,500 men, Norm was done by artist Abram Belskie with the assistance of physician Robert Dickinson.  They also did a female version called Norma, but I don't think most of you would want to see her.

    Thanks for the cool series. Surprised you didn't mention the holiday, but on ABC's big 250 celebration this morning, they highlighted Lewis & Clark, and the anchor gleefully exclaimed, "We decided we wanted to grow more!." Seemingly innocuous statement, until you're reminded that we STOLE this land from the Natives (and killed them, too).
