Our last sculpture from the Kunsthistorisches Museum of Vienna was long thought to be yet another work by Antico (Bonacolsi), but authenticators in the early 2000s proved that to not be the case.
What they didn't determine was who actually did this standing Hercules.
Wonderful series. Thank you.

My pleasure, Dan!
DeleteThese are great. Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Larry! I only wish my photography were a bit better.
DeleteThanks, Jerry. Diese sind schoene Bilder. And of course, the "classical cock" is so apparent in all these statues...I am glad we are over that idea.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, B.D.!
DeleteThis was a wonderful set! I love going through galleries and museums, but I prefer to do it alone as not to be rushed. I could spend a day in a place like this. And your photography is just fine Jerry!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat! Vienna is an amazing city when it come to art and culture, and it is also attractive, affordable, and easy to get around.
DeleteThanks for these photograpgs, great. Have been to Vienna a few times, but somehow never to this museum. We're going again for Christmas, so the museum is on the list of things to see.
ReplyDeleteYou won't be disappointed. Allow half a day to see everything.
