Our final jockstrap lookslike a specialty item.

  1. I remember when jocks were worn to protect your nuts and keep your dick from bouncing around. They cost a couple bucks. Now, they're $25 "fashion statements." I liked this post, Jerry. It brought back memories of a more natural era.

  4. In French, "Jockstrap" translates to "suspensory." And I think it was originally used by men whose balls hung too much... It's probably very embarrassing. What I've never understood is why the buttocks were left bare. Wouldn't it have been simpler to make briefs with comfort straps? Question: Why do jockstraps leave the buttocks bare?
Personally, I really like this photo, even if I also don't understand why wear a jockstrap in the shower? To save on laundry? I don't really believe it. It's quicker to wash underwear in a little water with detergent; it's cleaner than on your body!

    1. You make some good points, Albert. I think the buttocks were left bare to save on material costs as well as to have less moisture trapped against the body. Also allows more freedom of movement.

    2. The jockstrap was invented in 1874 by C. F. Bennett of a Chicago sporting goods company, Sharp & Smith, to provide comfort and support for bicycle jockeys working the cobblestone streets of Boston. The original incarnation of the jockstrap resembled a thong, as it featured a strap that went between the buttocks for better fit and friction-free. The one in the picture with a pocket to hold a hard cup, you can see.

    1. True. Catchers commonly use those for obvious reasons.
