Melvin Wells
This picture of Melvin Wells looks like it was pulled from an old type album.
Lon of New York + Jerry is trouble for me. Now, I'm agitated. Seriously, Melvin Wells is fantastic. He would look astounding in a spandex superhero costume. Great work, Jerry.
Posed like Samson in the temple. Wells was Mr New York State 1949 and Mr Health and Strength 1951. Wells was also voted Most Muscular at the Mr America contests in 1949 and 1950, and like Paine denied the Mr America title. Sad to say racism runs deep in the USA today. :( Lon and other physique photographers were inspired by biblical stories and Greco-Roman mythology….:)
