Barry Hostetler
I get a faint bordello vibe from this picture of Barry Hostetler
with some cut glass, red velvet, and a chandelier.
I get the feeling they're thinking Renaissance Man. The chandelier is decidedly 15th century Italian, although the glass would have been blown. Think "still life" rather than "bordello".
the shape of the glass could has been blown, but then the glass was "cut" to give the surface texture given. One example of cut glass is from the Moser glass company in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
A whole alternative homoerotic aesthetic here. The juxtaposition of the velvet tablecloth, wine glass and Mr Hostetler's magnificent, all natural appendage.

ReplyDeleteI see it your way. I did not recognize the chandelier, but it "felt" like a painting to me, too.
