Frank Collier Day

It's been several years since I did a full series on the work of Frank Collier, an East Coast photographer who was prosecuted by the authorities in the 1950s.  We begin with Ron Dzvorcin.

  1. Collier was indicted in 1960 for sending obscene photos through the US mail,
this brought an end to his photography career.
Does this handsome nude youth look obscene to you ? Hard to believe this would send a physique photographer to prison, but it did. And more than likely in a dignified courtroom graced with sculptures and murals of male and female nudes. Like a bare breasted statue of justice or a mural of classical nudes in a sylvan setting. Hypocrisy at its finest with the puritanical and uptight of that time, and today those shrills are at it again.
