I spend a lot more time looking for "new" material than I do putting series together, and today I'm posting a dozen 19th Century academic drawings that I found on a single visit to a single website. I don't get that lucky that often, and in this case, there are enough images for two more series. We start with one by Charles Laurent Germain from 1892.

Great stuff Jerry. Thank you. As ever, a useful insight into academic styles, especially the pre-photographic age ones. Some idealised, some more the actual man before us. And, as always, that wonderful, timeless life class vibe.

ReplyDeleteGermain avait un talent certain pour l’illustration.
