Red Background
The model in our second academic painting is holding a staff that Klimt
only partially painted in, and the red background is rather striking.

I visited the Belvedere in 2023, and I was told that they had some of the works I posted today in their collection, but only displayed them occasionally. Most visitors, it seems, want to see the later works such as The Kiss.
Interestingly "Etty" like. I wonder if Klimt was aware of his works? A thin rod, again with that twist adds extra muscle detail and helps the model pose.

DeleteThe twist allows a lighter grip, thus making for an easier longer pose for the model.
