Tchaikovsky and Kotek
The gentleman at right is the great composer Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky, and his companion
is Iosif Kotek, a violinist with whom he had a tumultuous romance with in the 1870s.
Yes Tchaikovsky was gay. Letters to his brother Modest refer to such. I have listened to Classical music for 60 years and have never seen this photograph. It is apparently genuine.
Well, I'm learning things today. Was Tchaikovsky gay?
