Austria 1965
My source says this is from Austria in 1965, but had nothing to say
about the odd lines in the white patches on the man's abdomen.
This is not a miner. It is a 1965 photograph by Otto Muehl called Material Action No. 19 (Bodybuilding), taken at the Perinet Cellar in Vienna, and it's in the Stadel Museum in Frankfurt. Muehl was a major artist iln Viennese Actionism in which the human body was used instead of a canvas. The man in the photo is smeared and covered in thick, dark organic materials (such as mud, food, or paint mixtures).
