In Just Seven Days . . .

"In just seven days, I can make you a man."  Those immortal lyrics sung by Dr. Frankenfurter in Rocky Horror paraphrased one of Charles Atlas' phenomenally successful ads promoting his Dynamic Tension method of bodybuilding.  So yes, friends, it's Charles Atlas Day on the old blog.  "Would you mail this coupon to get a body like mine?"  Damn right, I would! Sign me up.

    1. He looked good pretty much at any stage of his life, although I haven't seen any of his childhood photos. Multiple biographers say that he was a sickly chilld, hence the quest for physical development.

  4. I remember his ads in the back of comics and the muscle mags. Like the 90 pound weakling getting kicked with sand by a beach bully, getting the dynamic tension course of Atlas, building his body up and getting even with the beach bully….:)

    1. Mr. Atlas was bullied as a youngster, so we know where this particular part of the pitch came from.
