The classis physique photo was not the best time to be nonwhite in the USA,
but there were photographers who were ahead of their time. Also, things
blessedly began to change in the mid-1960s. Today we will have a two
part series on Men of Color, with part one featuring Latino models.
We start the show with Juan Montana by Pat Milo.
The "angularity" in this photo works beautifully posing the gorgeous man with ladder-stool. My favorite of the day but I love them all.
ReplyDeleteThe shoulders here draw the eye.
DeleteOui, très bien composé :)
DeleteAmerica is fortunate to have a very diverse population, it makes everything interesting.
My favorite of the day, even if I don't really like black backgrounds
ReplyDeleteThat's a bit of a surprise, but it is a very good photo.
DeleteI think the background works well here and the lighting enhances his body beautifully, especially those shoulders!
ReplyDeleteThe vast majority of Americans still do not understand that Latino is a cultural concept, not an ethnic one, since Latin America is diverse. There are countries where the majority of the population is mulatto, others of African descent, many where the majority are indigenous to the country and other countries where the majority are of European descent such as Argentina, Uruguay or Chile. In Argentina, for example, the majority are of Italian origin, with many descendants of Germans, Russians, Ashkenazi Jews, French, Spanish, etc. Latino is a cultural concept in reference to the fact that they all have Spanish as a common language but it is not an ethnic or racial concept.
ReplyDeletePoint taken.
DeleteYes, technically, Hispanic, and Latino are White… most anthropologists consider there’s only three “ethnicities” within our one human race…Caucasoid (White/Hispanic/Latino, etc.), Mongoloid (all Asians) and Negroid (sub–Saharan African, etc)… at least that’s what I remember learning back in school…
