Sgt. Callary

Closing the Joe Lee series with what I think he did best, a portrait of a soldier.  The subject is
Sergeant J. Callary from 1915.  I hope this beautiful man survived that horror of a war.

  1. Interesting series: I noticed that all the nude drawings were heavy in the hip and thigh area. It must have been a focus for him for some reason. Perhaps a reflection of his own build?

  2. Great series, Jerry. He did not flinch in depicting stripped males, did he? His artworks are finely detailed, imo.

  3. What a handsome sergeant. I appreciate his work; I do wonder how he managed to get some of these guys out of their attire!

    1. The nudes were probably done in art class with paid models.

  4. A new artist for me and an excellent one. The attention to detail is something I enjoy perusing over. I've enjoyed this!
