Photographed by Renslow at the resort town of Saugatuck MI on the shores of Lake Michigan. Saugatuck was a getaway for gay men in the 1950’s where they could stay at the gay friendly Elms Hotel and have a drink and socialize at the Blue Tempo bar. At the time Michigan liquor laws prohibited sales of liquor to homosexuals ! Today the art colony and resort town is a major destination for midwestern gays….:)
