My source says these are Australians in Egypt in 1916.
In the era before the miracle medicines of today; Sepsis, Typhus, Malaria, Dengue Fever, Rabies and Nile River parasites were more of a threat than bullets in the Egyptian theater of Ww1. 🇬🇧
Australische Soldaten sind ein tapferer und harter Schlag Mensch. Sie haben sich im Ersten und Zweiten Weltkrieg sowie in Korea und Vietnam bewährt. Ihr kluger Rat zur Kriegstaktik wurde von den Briten im Ersten Weltkrieg und von den Amerikanern im Vietnamkrieg ignoriert. (“)

ReplyDeleteAlthough disease was still a major issue, especially in places like Egypt, WWI was the first major war in which disease was not the number one killer.
