The Zipper
And lastly, we have an ad for a place called The Zipper.
Let's not forget the Club Baths on Toulouse street in the Quarter. It was next door to Ralph & Kacoos restaurant and countless times tourists walked into the bath's lobby thinking it was the restaurant-Dee Exx
Yes, many memorable nights there. I met guys downstairs (loud) upstairs (somewhat quieter) and on the stairs. We should trade stories sometime.-Dee Exx
IIRC, these two were reasonably clean and safe. There were some spots in that neighborhood that should have been condemned by the Health Department. And that opinion has nothing to do with AIDS, an entirely different matter.
I looked up The Bar and those waxing nostalgia said it was a dive bar, but a popular dive. I don't remember if it was. I was young and just happy to be "out"! Lol.

DeleteThe ad reminds me of another place in NYC called The Bar, I think it was on 2nd Ave. in the east village.
