Those bathing suits must have been popular nation wide that year.  I had one at age 7 for my first official swimming lessons in town.  It was the first suit I ever owned, having only skinny dipped with my cousins and uncles before that.  I only wore it for the lessons, though.

  1. Ahh, yes, skinny dipping was the norm . did a lot of it back in the 1950s. At the YMCA indoor pool it was mandatory- strip, shower, step-in a pan to disinfect your feet and then into the pool to swim in the nude.

  2. Yep. Skinny-dipping at the Y was the norm. Still don't understand why it all came to a screeching halt. Mandatory for men in those days, while the girls suited up and (normally) had to wear bathing caps to keep hair from clogging the skimmers and drains.
