Paul Labriola seems to be mixing a drink on top of some sort of appliance.
A Westinghouse combination washer/dryer. The family had one back in the late 50's, didn't work out to well. Break downs were constant ! - RJ in the IE.
We had one at a Scottish vacation rental in 2017. Of course it was a modern European version, but the instructions were incredibly complicated, and previous guests had left plenty of complaints in the cottage log book. We managed to get it to work for the three weeks we were there, but it wasn't easy.
