A cigar smoking trainer is working on this player.

  1. I've seen this pic before. What looks like a cigar might be some kind of pole hanging in the background because there seems to be a shadow of it on the wall. Or else it's an extremely long cigar! LOL

    1. I hadn't thought of that, but I think you're right.

  2. For absolute vintage locker room gorgeousness, google "Bobby Hull locker room photos"
    and enjoy!

    1. Oh, yes! I have those, or at least some of them. Need to post them soon.

  3. "Gorgeousness" is right! Bobby Hull was a living doll! Thanks for the suggestion.

  4. I'm originally from Canada. I remember as a kid one Sunday there was one of those weekend supplements that accompanies the newspaper. There was an article about Bobby Hull with a full page color photo of him shirtless, outside, kind of backlit and taken from below looking up so his hairy magnificent muscular torso looked even larger. He was the epitome of blond hairy Greek-God gorgeousness. It was then and there that I knew that I was gay. Spent a lot of time with that weekend supplement in the bathroom. Although I've seen many pics of Hull from that period, I've never seen that magnificent color photo of him from the supplement. But I haven't forgotten it.

    1. If you remember the name of the newspaper, there's a chance they have a photo archive. Not all of them do, though, and sometimes they are not on line even if they exist. Trust me, I would know.

  5. Trust you? Of course I trust you! I consider you to be one of the best, most intelligent bloggers on earth. So yeah, I trust you. I'll try what you said although it's so long ago and it's possible the newspaper itself may not exist anymore. xo

    1. You may or may not recall my very first communication with you. Tongue in cheek I was commenting about how I thought that the famous worn out plaid couch featured in so many early--oh God I'm forgetting the name of the photographer/studio now, but it's the one with all the rough trade models etc. You know who I mean. Anyway, I was joking that the iconic couch should have been donated to the Smithsonian Museum because it was so much a part of American culture etc..

    2. Oh, of course I remember now. That couch was from "Old Reliable" aka David Hurles, and the term rough trade definitely was key. I found out that nearly everything he did was after my self imposed 1975 cutoff date for vintage, so you don't see him much around here any more. I once fantasized about a CSI team puzzling over the stains on that couch. David got beaten up and/or robbed by his models on several occasions, so the sofa probably was literally a crime scene. The poor guy is in a nursing home in East Hollywood these days.

    3. Wow. Old Reliable of course! LOL Yes indeed the iconic couch was definitely all about the stains. It just came off as so 'germy'.

  6. OK surprisingly those archives came up pretty quickly (The papers were The Ottawa Journal and The Ottawa Citizen). But alas they didn't yield anything. He's 81 now so its nice he's still alive but OMG I'm still trying to "un-see" the way he looks now.
    LOL. xo

    1. Well, it was worth a try. When we see these guys later (or much later) in life, it's always either, "Gee he looks great." or "OMG!" Too bad Bobby hit the latter mark.
