I accidentally discovered the work of German photographer Helmut Rottgen a few weeks ago while researching some one else. These are the only male nudes by him I could find, and that may be because he moved on to cinematography not long after shooting today's photos from 1980 to 1982. We start with a model in a ruined Berlin industrial site.
Lovely image. Careful where you walk.
ReplyDeleteReally!
DeleteI have a photo he did of actor Brad Davis for the film Querelle, I wasn't aware he did more. New photographers are always welcome!
ReplyDeleteApparently Mr. Rottgen took up still photography for a limited span of time before focusing on his main interest of cinematography.
DeleteInteresting that he has only two credits in cinematography both in 1984. He did the stills for Querelle, but was a sound recordist on that film. Too bad he didn't further pursue photography, I would like to have seen where that would have taken him.
DeleteThanks for looking that up, Pat. I've been busy doing my taxes. Yuck!
DeleteGetting mine in order for next week. Lol.
DeleteI really like this photographer. All of Rottgen's works are sensuous, and very tastefully done.
ReplyDeleteYes, and I wonder if that taste is reflected in the movies he has worked on.
