Today I am featuring ten photos by Lyle Frisby, a promising photographer whose life was cut short at age 28 by leukemia. Although that was almost always a fatal diagnosis in the 1950s, Lyle's death was no doubt hastened by the poor medical care and overall ill treatment he experienced while imprisoned for distributing male nude photos. Pat Milo ran the business end of Mr. Frisby's studio, and some say they were lovers. I don't know about that last bit, but Mr. Milo went on to be a great photographer himself. We start the show with a rather tentative looking Paul Stewart.
He is spoiled by nature Paul Stewart !
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. Cambria sent me a different picture of him where he looks like he just got out of jail.
DeleteI'm already booked up for almost a month, but I'll get to it eventually.
DeleteBegabte Jugendliche.
ReplyDeleteStewart ist sich nicht ganz sicher.
Es ist eine Schande, wie Herr Frisby behandelt wurde, und jetzt gibt es Leute, die diesen Missbrauch wiederholen wollen. (“)
Yes, a real shame.
Deleteso glad that we don't live in the '50s! How insane, to be jailed for something as innocuous as that.
ReplyDeleteYes, insane, but no longer unthinkable in today's world.
