On his way to the POW camp in Karlruhe, Germany, Joe Lee convinced one of his captors to allow him to not only keep his sketch pad, but to buy some additional supplies. This color pencil drawing of fellow prisoner Col. Stephan Milavanovich of Serbia was done in 1918.
With all that was going on he still managed to create. Just beautiful.
