Hard work
Let there be no doubt, coal mining is hard, dangerous work.
There is a quiet strength and dignity about the men in this picture.
Jerry, you know these miner photos go straight to my heart. I thank you for this series and especially for this photo, which I will definitely draw for my book about my dad and his life as a miner. I'll mention you in my acknowledgments, believe me!
And some of the coal mine owners of today would just love to be rid of all safety and other regulations. As if they don’t have enough blood on their hands. The coal baron Don Blankenship is their poster child….:(
