Vic Seipke
Spectrum took this color slide of Vic Seipke, and he looks like he's
amused by being about to pop out of that posing strap.
Great color photo, and to think some photographers offered full color photo sets and slides in stereoscopic 3-D which are extremely rare. Spectrum pushed the envelope and tested the patience of the censors with that posing thong. And Seipke’s manhood tested the limits of its strings. Seipke might as well have gone full frontal at least for some private photos as other physique models had done. Spectrum had other great models with the likes of Allen Brian, Eddie Weller and Jim Mc David. Rex in DC
I'm sure a firm favourite with many of us. I think, one of my early "finds" long ago. How is this god of a man? Fine nudes, or always about to burst out of his pouch.
I have seen pictures of Mr. Seipke and his wife happily reminiscing over his magazine photos. Of course those were in trunks or posing straps, but you figure his family had to know about the nudes.
Great bod ! With that small pouch he might as well have gone and shown the full enchilada. Nonetheless so daring for the 1950’s and Seipke knew it ! A time and place where a willing jock could collaborate with a great photographer and create memorable images. Anyone know who was behind Spectrum ? -CA jock

Yes, this was definitely on the wild side for publication at the time.

ReplyDeleteMr. Seipke passed away at age 91 in 2023. His obituary mentioned his bodybuilding championships, but not his modeling.
DeleteThese days that is unexpected. I assume he, and his family, were happy with his modelling work? t
DeleteBack in the '50's? Doubtful. (maybe NOW, if they happened upon his photos)

DeleteSeine sonnige Persönlichkeit strahlt.
ReplyDeleteStolz auf seinen Körperbau und er wusste, was der Fotograf wollte. (“)
And he was ready to give it to him.
