Charles Whitlock
Al Urban took it easy on the oil for this picture of Charles Whitlock.
Has the photographer manipulated the image a little? A face appears to be sort of superimposed on his torso: navel as a chin dimple, skin fold as mouth, nipple area as eyes/brows, etc.
Urban was one of the best physique photographers on the East Coast. Like other physique photographers he went through the gristmill of persecution and police raids. In 1960 it all came to an end when police seized his negatives and never returned them. A few survived that he entrusted to a friend. Urban died in Southern California while living his final years on welfare just as his work was rediscovered. Rex in DC
Spectacular. Perhaps, one of those "ordinary" looking guys. Under that daytime suit, a wonderful physique.
ReplyDeleteFor many of us the "attainable" look has appeal.

ReplyDeleteAlthough anything is possible, I've seen other photos of this model which look very much the same. Sometimes things look just a little odd.
