Some people give Jack Lalanne a hard time for having tried unsuccessfully to round up and destroy
all his nude photos when he got his first TV deal. Fortunately, Russ Warner refused, and a few
photos by other photographers resurfaced decades later when private collections were sold.
I don't think we should judge Mr. Lalanne harshly, though. He would have been blacklisted
had his past become widely known, and he went on to introduce basic principals of fitness
and health to millions. And besides that, he was one fine looking and well built man.
So he closes out my "honorable mention" list.
Nice to see Jack's beautiful the ul body with unbroken male lines and his foreskin not skinned back. Do you know if this is by Russ Warner?
ReplyDeleteThanks for another terrific post. Looking forward to the follow-up.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.

ReplyDeleteLalanne nudo, in America un problema serio, in Europa nessun problema.
Si, qui, un scandalo! 🙄
DeleteNot so poor Jack, but back then images like this would have been his end. Always wondered what became of his early partner the striking Jack Thomas. Surprised Thomas didn’t become a health guru like Lalanne, then again Lalanne was very ambitious. Perhaps Thomas was the sacrificial lamb like some of the men of Rock Hudson.
ReplyDeleteAnother great series :)
Rex in DC
I remember my mom, who is about to turn 88, in the living room with a kitchen chair swinging her leg along with Jack on TV.
ReplyDeleteThat may be one reason she is still with us at 88. Good for her, and I hope she has a great birthday!
DeleteThankfully, most of those photos survived? He was not really known in the UK. I discovered him through the utterly sublime duos with, my all-time favourite model, Jack Thomas. Here he looks amazing, nude, but totally relaxed. Great stocky build, that looks best without trunks cutting his body in half.
ReplyDeleteWhile some of those photos were probably lost, he could never round up the ones the other photographers had sold. Over the years they have surfaced, so we have more than the ones Russ Warner refused to hand over.
