La Culture Physique
In 1904Edmond Desbonnet founded the groundbreaking magazine, La Culture Physique.
This photo is attributed to him, and the athlete on the pedestal was named Sturm.
Sturm, peut-être d'Alsace :) Many of German héritage in Alsace. Our best beer Kronenbourg and the délice flammenkuchen, the Alsatian pizza, come from there. As the Alsatian architect and designer Charles Mewès once acidly remarked about the wide boulevards of Paris and other cities in France, “Napoleon found them adequate !” As the wide boulevards allowed for soldiers to attack and disperse angry, protesting citizens.
