Sir Sean Connery


Before his acting career took off, Sir Sean Connery took a turn at bodybuilding.
He placed third in the junior division of the 1953 Mr. Universe competition.
Below we see Sir Sean in his kilt with racecar driver Sir Jackie Stewart.

  4. Connery was a milkman at the time he competed for Mr Universe held at the Royal Hotel of London in 1953.
    Hewlitt was a professional wrestler.
    After the competition one of the other bodybuilders mentioned there were auditions for a stage production of South Pacific, and thus began the acting career of Sean Connery.
    Leave it to a Scot to get the coveted role of James Bond. We all expected a proper English gentleman.:)

  5. Never liked Connery, but Gerard Butler and Angus Macfadyen are my favourite Scots. The gentleman he is leaning on is far more interesting.

    1. Sean Connery didn't really become attractive to me until he was well into middle age. I only used this younger photo of him because the topic is strong men. Mr. Butler is a dreamboat.

  6. Mr Howlett is more my type, but I did think Connery was quite handsome in Walt Disney’s Darby O’Gill & the Little People from 1959. I first saw it when it was rereleased in the ‘70s when I was in my early teens. His shirtless scene gave me an immediate woody…
