Models

Today's theme is artists' models, and we start with Samuel Butler Rose c.1865. of St John’s College, Cambridge, UK.  It's unfortunate that the photographer didn't show his face.

 

The two guys in the foreground seem quite chummy 

in this 19th Century photo provided by Larry K.

 

These two 1970s models are apparently working for an all female photography class.

 

The position of this knife wielding model couldn't have been comfortable,

but he does seem to have a cushy animal skin under him.

 

This artist's studio has a portable bar set up and a model making use of it.

 

Men and Columns

We start our Sunday feature of men and columns 

with this unattributed photo of Stan Stanczyk. 

Edited to add:  Thanks to 2ndWave for correctly identifying

 Douglas of Detroit as the photographer.

 

I never get tired of looking at the handsome Don Fuller.

 

Alex Aronis is either cradling the column or restoring it to 

the upright position in this Bruce of LA photo.  I'm sure Stan put a lot of 

things upright in his time.  And there's Bruce's grass mat again.

 

Derek Bottomley has a winning smile in this posing strap 

photo by an unknown (at least to me) photographer.

 

Chuck Darcy is quite impressive in this Pat Milo photo.  

Oddly, he seems to be wearing U.S. Marine dress headgear with the emblem turned up.

 

Bruce of LA really got the lighting right in this impressive photo of Martin Adams.

I somehow managed not to post this picture in previous series.

 

Leroy Colbert shows some natural charm in this Lon of New York photo.

I have a few other pictures of Leroy and wish I had more.

 

I don't know who took this photo of Spencer Churchill,

but his classic good looks match the pose and setting.

 

I've posted two other photos from this same Spartan of Hollywood 

session with Eric Pedersen, and they never fail to please.  

 

Military Medical

Today's theme is military medical exams, and this first one looks like World War I,

but I'm not at all sure about which country.

 

This is probably some sort of skin exam by the U.S. Army.

 

These U.S. Army recruits are getting their shots from some bored looking orderlies.

 

My lamented dear friend Mr. Scumbeast called this Cold War photo "All Shapes and Sizes."

 

Finishing today's series with a photo that has been modified somewhere by someone to remove most of the swastika from the Nazi flag on the wall behind the officer.  No one has ever called the authenticity of the picture into question, but someone decided to remove only part of that emblem.
