I think these are German submariners having a wash-up.
Thanks for an interesting group of photos... Reminds me of being out in the field on a 4 day training when a Thunderstorm came up and the whole company stripped down and showered to wash off three days of sweat and dirt.
Leute auf geliehener Zeit, U-Boot-Besatzungen hatten im Krieg eine sehr hohe Sterblichkeitsrate. Heute sind nur noch wenige übrig. Mein Onkel, der im U-Boot-Dienst diente, nahm an vielen Treffen in Deutscland und Amerika teil. (“)
