Different view
This one is interesting in that there is a different version made the same day with players at the left displaying their jewels instead of the guy at the right. The team was Harvard.
The locker room pics were taken after the Eastern Sprints Championships in May 1950. The team isn't Harvard, but MIT, who beat Harvard by one tenth of a second. The winners collect the shirts of the second place team.
No, they were not. The photos I use from the LIFE Archive were cropped if they appeared in the magazine. The subjects were told that their packages would not be shown in the publication, and that was true. What they weren't told was that the originals would be archived and appear on a thing called the internet fifty years or more later.
Which team? I'm guessing the older male in the baseball cap was the coach. Big Dude
