Vic White

Our last lesser known photographer is Vic White of Portsmouth, England.  He shows up in physique magazines from about 1956 to 1960 with tasteful posing strap photos.  He and his wife ran a gym in Portsmouth that provided a pool of models.  Despite being able to learn that much about his background, I have only been able to uncover three photos, all of Mike Tozer, above.

  2. Vic White had his studio at 30 Rudmore Road in Portsmouth, England. Most of his models were bodybuilders and military men from the area, as Portsmouth is a base for the Royal Navy. The Criterion Hotel bar was a great place to meet lonely sailors way back in the day ! Vic White was one of many physique photographers in the UK. Others were John Barrington, Basil Clavering/Royale Studio, Peter Dobing, Dominique of London/aka Lon of London,Galaxy Studio, John Graham, Bill Green/Vince of London, Tom Nicoll/Scott of London and John Parkhurst/Hussar.
    Cheers !

  3. Great photo series of unknown physique photographers….:)
It almost appears that the thong on Mike Tozer is drawn in. Nevertheless, a well done indoor physique portrait by Vic White. Britain certainly had its share of great looking physique models. I recall several British film noirs revealing fleeting glimpses of adult bookstores with physique magazines and photos in the streets of Soho in London….:)
