Simplicity
The part in the hair dates this photo to the first decades of the 20th Century,
but it is the simplicity of the image that really appeals to me.
The pose reminds me of very very early ancient Egyptian sculpture, and then later, the very early centuries of the classic Greek statue pose known as Kouros Boys…
A beautiful, deceptively simple display of a very complex paradox, the symmetry and asymmetry that we all possess in our bodies.
ReplyDeleteWell stated!
DeleteIt's a very appealing shot.
ReplyDeleteYes, and I'd call his expression "quiet pride."
