We shouldn't be at all surprised that Joe Dallesandro shows up prominently in the opening pages. (He even appears again on page 4.) After all, he was a hot commodity at the time, and I mean that in the very commercial sense of the word. "Everybody had to pay and pay."
Robert Kendall was photographed full nude along with Jerry Debry by Bruce Bellas in 1954 in Utah, he discovered both at a gym. Back then Bellas would drive his car on his way either to his home state Nebraska or rodeos across the country and along the way discover models….:)

ReplyDeleteBellas was lucky to have such handsome willing young men to pose full nude for his caméra. As for Dallesandro, one is compelled to certain actions to survive and he has survived well.
Bellas was a skilled photographer in the studio and outdoors, as these photos attest.
