Nice color
Is that a brindle greyhound? Is there even such a thing?
Tortoiseshell is legit in certain breeds. Most of my paternal line male relatives and I carry a recessive gene for mixed hair color, very rare in humans. Our DNA expert used the term "brindle" for it.
This looks like a Mel Roberts photo.
ReplyDeleteThe nice color work sure seems like Roberts.
DeleteVery much so... our greyhounds in Britain have overwhelmingly uniform coats. And this laddie is as beautiful as his master.
ReplyDeleteThat breed has been exploited in the USA for racing and as the branding icon for a bus company that's anything but swift.
DeleteI know that both Boxer and Great Dane breeds share the same name for that type of coloring. In cats it's called tortoiseshell.

DeleteBrindle occurs in Highland cattle and a few other breeds, too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. My own family had deep Scottish roots.
DeleteI'm pretty sure that you have this guy labeled as Paul Gibson in another b and w in the dog and defunct magazine section.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It isn't the first time I failed to cross reference my own posts.
