The he-man flexing pose and the heavy makeup just don't work together.

  1. I gotta go along with you on this one, Jerry. It doesn't do anything for me.

    1. I hope that was makeup. Otherwise, he had a real problem.

  2. "The he-man flexing pose and the heavy makeup just don't work together." Unless you're Rudolph Valentino.

    1. Did he pose stripped? I don't think I'd recognise him naked or clothed. Can't remember ever seeing a pic of him.

    2. Having been a silent movie heartthrob, there are oodles of photos of Valentino on Google Images, but I've never seen a nude of him. He died unexpectedly at age 31. A number of distraught female fans committed suicide, and his funeral turned into an all day riot when 100,000 people showed up and couldn't get in. The term "Latin Lover" was invented for him by the movie studio. All that, and I just can't see the attraction, but there's no accounting for taste.

  3. I remember my great grandmother saying she saw him once at some event and was surprised at how he had noticeable acne scars. Apparently he was heavily made up for his movie roles to hide his bad complexion. He supposedly died of a ruptured appendix. OUCH!!

    1. True about the appendix. Acne might explain the makeup in Valentino's case, but I've seen other male actors of that era heavily made up, too.
