The sculptural piece at left is Berufung by Arno Breker, a very talented German artist and Nazi party member who found great favor with Hitler.  Between Allied bombings and postwar de-Nazification efforts, there aren't that many pre-1945 Breker works still in existence.  He tried to revive his career with mixed results, and is now considered a sad footnote to 20th C. history.  Such a waste.

  1. That's an worthy surmise, and I would only add that Hitler was well known to have approved of male nudity in artistic settings portraying heroic German cultural or military themes. It's not too much of a stretch to conceive of that inspection picture you saw, although I don't recall ever seeing it. I'd like to, though.

In Classic sculpture, the artistic standard was for the gods and heroes to have small packages. Somehow, they considered larger ones vulgar or common.

    2. After watching your site for a few years, I get the feeling that photos with small penises are more than about 100 years old or non commercial, while shots with larger and longer penises are more recent and made to be sold.

    3. I hadn't thought about that in relation to photos, but you may be onto something. Of course, there are exceptions of both ends of that time line, but you could be correct overall.

  3. I have been turning that round in my mind, Jerry, and it wss in a French-language magazine or newspaper. I worked in the college library, sorting inbound publications, and that's where I saw it. It could have been Belgian, Swiss or French. I do remember that the girl who worked with me drooled over it. I, on the other hand, was a perfect gentleman and concealed my hard on quite well.

  4. And I hope I am not out of line in pointing out that the German statue has a man-sized phallus, as compared to those micro-peters on the classical statues. Don't mean to offend, but it's ttue.

  5. Not offensive at all. It's a fact, and several others commented on it in relation to other photos in the series.
