Uncertain . . . me, not the model


This is one of those that I'm not entirely sure is by Pluschow,
but the quality of the image and the model are nice.

  1. How did they do the lighting back then? The model's body from the groin up contrasts with the background. But could they focus the lighting so tightly on one area?

    1. Well, it wasn't easy. Electric lighting came into use very late in von Pluschow's career, so it was likely natural or oil lamp lighting with mirrors to focus light in just the right spots. Outdoor work involved waiting for the right conditions and/or moving the model around until a good spot was found, although there were a few devices used outside to focus light.
