Bodybuilder 1982
I found this labeled "Bodybuilder 1982," and I initially thought it might be one of Warhol's
better quality Polaroids. Turns out to be a gelatin silver print that sold for U$20,000.
I never really liked Andy Warhol. Maybe I never understood it. I apologize to his fans. This photo is pretty, but nothing more (this is still my opinion)
The reason for the great quality is likely because it was taken with Polaroid film loaded into a Hasselblad or similar large format camera back. Photographers used this method to "proof" their work, similar to checking an image on the touch screen of a digital camera.

ReplyDeleteHe is not one of my favorites, and the main reason I include his work here is because it is considered importaint by many art historians.
DeleteThe bodybuilder is either posed standing up with his hands against the wall or he is actually on the floor in a push up position….:)
ReplyDeleteI noticed that, too, and would go with hands against the wall
