Dick Cavett

Our last Francesco Scavullo photo is Dick Cavett in 1977 reading a book in his socks and BVDs
while standing on a towel.  I had no idea Mr. Cavett looked so good without his suit.

Interesting, but a bit more "arty" than I go for. Still, a nice post, Jerry, even though Scavullo was never one of my favorites.

Dick Cavett was a gymnast both in high school and college. He remained in good shape during his adult life.

I didn't even know who Mr. Scavuto was until quite recently.

Thanks! I didn't know that.

He did take some really excellent B/W photos, but he is more famous for his Cosmopolitan covers from the '70's and '80s. Every model of the day wanted him to photograph them in hopes of making the cover. Some went on to films, Kim Basinger for one who ended up winning an Oscar.

I can't believe I only found out about this photographer while researching another from the same era. And yes, his fashion and celebrity work was significant.

He was quite big, though maybe not as much as Avedon or Steven Meisel today.

Dick Cavett, who didn’t watch his interview show, never knew he was an athlete.
Scavullo is similar to photographers Helmut Lang and Patrick Sarfati in scope from celebrities to male nudes.

Even while watching his show in the '60's and '70's I thought he was sexy as hell.

Surprising! Nice, thick, hairy legs, and nice arms............disrobe fully, get a little hair-trim, even better!!

Yes, surprisingly masculine out of his suit, and I agree about the hair trim.
