Hermes
Closing out the Capitoline set with Hermes, aka Mercury, from 170 A.D.
I hope to visit again this summer, the time we were there we had the most wonderful guide and when it was over I wanted to do all again! A must see. Your photos are excellent Jerry!
Along with this statue of Hermes, the Dying Gaul, Wounded Warrior and a gold Triton are among other sculptures to see. The collection of sculptures held at the Capitoline easily rivals that of the Vatican. Good overview of this fine museum. Rex in DC
Doesn't look like I'll ever get there so thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteThis is cool. When I was young, I studied Latin and Classical Greek. These statues brought back some memories. But I still don't like classical dicks.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the set despite the package issue.
DeleteUne belle continuation des trèsors du Musèe Capitolin.
ReplyDeleteMerci, so generous :)

ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat! Here's hoping you get your visit this summer.

I found it better than and Vatican and far easier to access.
