Gregor Arax judiciously used oil on some of his early models.  It was the fashion in physique photography at the time, and in the case of Jerome Gallecier here in the late 1940's, 
it was put to good use accenting his well defined chest and abdomen.

  1. The way the light hits Jerome's oiled body and the contrast of light and dark screams Film-Noir. Late 1940s Film-Noir with male nudity would have been divine and probably a crime.
