I recently did a series on the work of Eugene Durieu,
and this is another of his studies for Delacroix from 1854.
For me, as a model, this image is a piece of life modelling treasure. 165 years ago this man agreed to, via the new medium of photography, to be immortalised. I'm sure he would be pleased that we still admire his inspiring pose.
