I wish I knew the background on this photo, but I don't.
The model might be a squared jawed fellow I admired in a quartet series last month.
I think you have a valid theory on that. There was some significant crossover between the nudist publications and some of the "physique" porn magazines in the late 60's and early 70's. Darryl Powers of Champion is one example.
The model looks familiar to me - I believe this is from one of the early Wyngate and Bevins male nudist publication
