I agree and think it is mainly due Don Whitman having used the same or very similar locations to shoot any number of models. And despite the incredibly vast number of ways there are to pose male bodies, he probably repeated quite a few of them, too. Doesn't diminish anything in any way, though.
Maybe it's the setting more than anything, but this is reminiscent of some Marc Arno spreads. Not that this man isn't splendid in his own right.
