Mick

This is Mick Magar in another stunning Ferrero photo.

  1. Give him a discus and he could be a Greco-RomAn stature! Actually, he is anyway. Good lighting and light/dark contrast. His pecs and legs come out at us. Nice.

  2. I have the feeling that the background is added.
There is a shadow on the grass parallel to the left arm in a different direction that the leg's shadow.
Also, the edge contrast at the right leg and torso looks too sharp.
The depth of focus is too narrow given the apparent photo place.
In a open air photo with ample sunlight both Mick Magar AND the background should be focused because the diaphragm should be closed to a high f number (f/32 at least) giving a big depth of field.
The background is all blurry at all distances.

  3. Unless Ferrero used a Flash in daylight...

    1. I think you answered your own question. Ferrero certainly had the ability to use the supplemental lighting technology which was available at the time.

  4. Mick Magyar, le discobolus hongrois. Ferrero inspire par les classiques anciens.
